The Peter Marlow Foundation is proud to work with photographer and journalist David J. Shaw on the Jaywick Youth Visual Storytelling Programme, which will run this summer.

Over the past year, David has been documenting life in Jaywick, a village on the east coast of England which suffers the label of the most deprived place in England. Shaw's project aims to challenge this narrative by focusing on celebrating community resilience, a DIY culture of care and co-creating representation.

The programme brings together David, Shannon Ghannam, Director of Development and Programming at the Peter Marlow Foundation, the young people of Jaywick and the wider community to collaboratively explore the stories and identity of this village through visual storytelling.

Call for participants to take part in the Jaywick Youth Visual Storytelling Programme in Jaywick Summer 2026:

Are you a young person living in or connected to the village of Jaywick?

Are you interested in being part of an exciting new creative and collaborative project that explores the narrative and story of Jaywick?

Would you like to learn new skills related to photography, arts and media whilst receiving guidance about working in the arts and media industries?

Then come be part of our programme in the Summer of 2026!

- Be part of a fun and unique experience, make new friends and build confidence. It will be a great addition to your CV.
